Wah! SMARTDEALS Refunds and Cancellations
Effective date: October 7, 2026
This page summarizes how cancellations and refunds work on Wah! SMARTDEALS for members and for businesses. It does not replace the Customer Terms or the Vendor Terms; if there is a conflict, those terms control. See also the Disclaimer, Points and Rewards and the Customer Privacy Policy.
1. For members
1.1 You pay nothing to Wah!
Sponsor and Treat deals are free to the member. You pay nothing to Wah! or to the business to claim a coupon, and Wah! does not hold or process your payments. So there is normally nothing to refund.
1.2 Cancelling a coupon
| Deal type | Cancelling and taking it again |
|---|---|
| Sponsor | You can cancel a coupon, up to 2 cancellations per deal. A coupon you cancelled once can be taken again; after the second cancellation it cannot. Cancelling never earns a strike. A cancelled Sponsor coupon does not reopen the deal's spot for someone else. |
| Treat | A Treat coupon lasts until the event ends. You can cancel it for free, and an expired Treat coupon can be taken again. |
| Retail (past records only) | Retail coupons cannot be cancelled in the app. For past Retail deals you paid the business directly, so a refund is between you and the business. |
1.3 When a coupon expires unused
An expired Sponsor coupon never reopens the deal's spot. A walk-in Sponsor coupon that expires unredeemed earns a strike (warning on strike 1, up to 100 points removed on strike 2, and a read-only Sponsor account on strike 3). By-appointment coupons, Treat coupons, and cancellations never earn a strike. See the Customer Terms for details. If you think a strike is wrong, contact contact@wahsmartdeals.com.
1.4 If you pay a business directly
If you pay a business directly for anything, disputes and refunds are between you and the business under the terms of the deal and applicable law. Wah! is not a party to that payment and does not hold it.
2. For businesses
2.1 Lead fees are not refunded for expired, cancelled or no-show coupons
A Sponsor business pays Wah! per lead (per claim), not per redemption. The lead fee is taken from the business's wallet when the member's coupon is created, not when it is scanned. An expired coupon, a cancelled coupon, or a member who does not turn up is not refunded. If the same member cancels a coupon and takes it again, the business is not charged a second time for that member. Charges are in US dollars.
The first 5 leads of a business's first approved Sponsor deal are free. They are lost for good if that deal expires or is deactivated, or if staff mark them forfeited, and they have no cash value.
2.2 Withdrawing wallet money
- A business can withdraw unused wallet money at any time, in full or in part.
- The money is refunded to the card that paid. It is never sent to a bank account.
- The amount you can withdraw is your real balance minus money committed to approved, published or paused deals. Promotional credit cannot be withdrawn.
- When a Sponsor deal ends, unused paid leads become free to withdraw. There is no automatic refund: settlement waits until no coupon from the deal is still live.
2.3 Deactivating or closing
- A business can pause, resume or deactivate its own deal. Deactivation is final: active coupons are cancelled, members are told, and lead fees already charged are not refunded.
- A business can ask to close its account in the app. The request is refused while deals are live, coupons are outstanding, or the wallet holds money.
- If Wah! staff deactivate a business, its live deals end, its active coupons are cancelled, and its wallet is frozen.
2.4 A declined card, and Treat invoices
If a card is declined or the wallet is empty, the deal keeps running on leads already bought, and new members go on a waitlist. The business then has 48 hours to buy more leads; after that the deal is set to expired and leaves the feed, although coupons already issued still work. A Treat is paid by Wah! to the business by invoice, outside the app, after the Treat has ended. A business needs no card for a Treat.
2.5 Payment disputes
Wah! may reverse or adjust wallet credit and recover amounts owed if a payment is disputed, reversed or charged back. A card dispute or refund on a top-up reverses the wallet credit and can take the wallet balance below zero.
2.6 Taxes
Businesses are responsible for their own taxes. Wah! will issue tax forms where the law requires it.
